As one of the proud sponsors, Friday-Ad caught up with the Brighton Fitness Festival’s Co-ordinator, Sam Crocker-Green, to find out more about Brighton & Hove’s newest and most exciting FREE event!

Hi Sam, thanks for chatting with us today. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what inspired you to create the first ever Brighton Fitness Festival?

So, I’m Sam and I am the Manager at FMG Project – a Brighton-based charity aiming to support and empower young people who face barriers to participation in sport and exercise, by providing gym-based fitness and mindset coaching programmes in our state-of-the-art gym in central Brighton. We use sport and exercise as our way of creating a positive impact!

As a way of raising awareness of the work that we do, and much needed funds for the project, we are setting up and running the first ever fitness festival in Brighton and Hove – Brighton Fitness Festival! With the help of local sports events company, TPG Sports, we believe that we can create a powerful community event that celebrates the local health, wellbeing and fitness community in Brighton and the surrounding area.

Our inaugural day-festival will take place on Saturday 24th June 2023, where we will be bringing a jam-packed day of live workouts, talks, seminars and interviews, a walk-through exhibition of local and national fitness and wellness businesses, healthy food and drink, and the opportunity to compete in, or spectate, the South Coast’s best functional fitness competition – The Vault Games! All profits from the festival will go to the FMG Project charity.

Wow! That sounds like a lot to take on! How are you funding the event?

The event will be completely free to attend for the public, however we are asking the local businesses who are taking part to pay a fee to be there. We also have some fantastic sponsors on board who are helping to support us by providing some funds to cover the up-front costs. Our headline sponsor is the amazing Wolfox Coffee and our partner sponsors include lululemon Brighton, ClassPass UK, Jordan Fitness, Alfonso Visuals, and of course yourselves at Friday-Ad!

Tell us a little bit more about how the Festival will look on the day?

We will be positioned on the most-westerly section of Hove Lawns, where we will have a stage with different local trainers, yogis and speakers leading sessions throughout the day. Just in front of this, there will be a live workout area, where there will be space for up to 50 people to take part in these sessions.

Surrounding this, we will have a variety of different exhibitors showcasing their health and fitness-related products and services. You’ll have the opportunity to learn more about local businesses, try out and purchase new products, compete in challenges and activities, and sign up to gyms or personal training. We will also have plenty of healthy food and drink available which will be dotted around the site, as well as lots of freebies being given out on the day.

In amongst all of this, there will be opportunities to move your body in new and exciting ways via our Move Zone, where you can try out Dance Fit, Pilates, Barre and other unique exercise concepts. We will have a ‘Muscle Beach-esque’ gym area with weights and gym equipment that you can use for free, as well as other fun activities like mini golf, mobile saunas and group runs.

At the other end of the site, we have partnered with local gym The Vault 164, to bring you the best functional fitness competition on the South Coast- the Vault Games! Here, mixed teams of 4 will be battling it out in a number of different competitive workouts to be crowned the Vault Games 2023 champions! Feel free to enter via our website, or just come down as a spectator.

Basically, there’s loads going on- you just need to get there!

Amazing! How can people get involved or find out more?
