When we re-launched www.Friday-Ad.co.uk in September we introduced an exciting new element – hosted online shops that give sellers a professional shop window for their items for sale.
In just a few weeks some of the small companies and traders who signed up to F-AD Shops have had real successes through these web outlets. So we thought we’d give you some insights into how it works!
Here’s a real success story: After just a month of trading through their F-AD Shop, our friends at The Recycled Goods Factory had received over 2,000 customer views and sold 45 items. They also saw a healthy flow of traffic via their F-AD Shop page direct to their own website. (See Case Study below for more details.)
Here’s how you can benefit from a F-AD Shop:
Showcase your stock
F-AD Shops allow you to manage and showcase your stock and run your business all in one place, using Friday-Ad as your outlet. So you have one easy location to list all of your ads and keep track of everything.
Stand out from the crowd
Your shop page will be complete with all of your own branding, including company logo and a custom header image. This can be really powerful and bring real colour and character to your online store!
Company details and link to your website
All of your contact details and your location are easily visible on the shop, and this is a great way to give your customers all of the information they need. If you are active on social media (a must these days!) all your social media profiles can be fully integrated into your shop.
Start small and grow
It’s incredibly easy to set up your shop and we can help you get started. All you need to do is register as a business user and get set up in an instant or log in and upgrade here. It’s free to have a basic shop, or £10 per month for an enhanced shop, or £15 for an all-singing, all-dancing premium shop.
Success Story: The Recycled Goods Factory
The Recycled Goods Factory, based in Lancing, was set up five years ago by Sandra Wyatt and Cameron Goodrick. The pair started the company with one van and £40, and today it has grown to a thriving used furniture business operating out of a 5,000 sq ft showroom with a flourishing web presence, nine employees, and big plans for expansion.
The team here specialises in collecting and clearing unwanted furniture and household equipment, and then carrying out skilled upholstery, paint effect and restoration projects. Customers love the shabby chic dressers, bargain wardrobes, beds and chests of drawers, and come to the Lancing showroom from across the south coast, from Brighton to Bognor.
The company website www.TheRGF.co.uk has been improved since September 2015 with the launch of a F-AD Shop. There’s a link from the company’s existing website to the F-AD Shop which provides the Recycled Goods Factory a professional online format to showcase products and a click to buy function.
After two months of trading through this additional channel, they had received over 3,200 customer views and sold 120 items on the F-AD Shop. Lots of traffic to the RGF F-AD Shop is existing customers who want to keep an eye on stock coming through, but there is also a new audience opening up, as Friday-Ad customers searching for ‘wardrobes’ or ‘dining chairs’ will see RGF items listed in the search results and be directed to the RGF web shop.
“Our customers have given us really positive feedback about the F-AD Shop, saying they love the clear images and find it easy to use,” says Sandra Wyatt, co-founder of The Recycled Goods Factory. “For us it’s great to be able to upload multiple images – which really encourage sales – and we find the site quick and user-friendly. Customers can buy direct too from our Friday-Ad Shop which is great. We’re hoping that over the next few years we can build traffic through Friday-Ad which will take us to a new level of growth.”
Sandra says there are currently around 140 to 160 furniture items listed on the Recycled Goods Factory F-Ad Shop, but the aim is to grow this to 200 to 250 listings. “And we’re hoping to see a big return from this channel in the coming years.”
