Let’s Race, Horley

Let’s Race has a truly brilliant F1 racing simulator that makes for an excellent day out. There are a whole range of driving experiences available that can suit a variety of needs, with the most popular experiences being the Race and Premium Race options. The race option allows you to step into the cockpit of an F1 car and live the dream. You will get a 15 minute safety briefing, then you’ll take part in a 15 minute qualifying session, a telemetry review and then a 15 or 30 minute race!

The full motion F1 simulation cars on offer have to be experienced to be believed. They feature a booming sound system, which creates an amazing atmosphere. These cars also travel up to 200mph, which can give you a real rush! If you are an F1 fan, then this is quite possibly the best day out available to you in the UK. Donington Park Grand Prix Exhibition, Derby

All F1 fans simply must make sure that they visit the Donington Grand Prix Collection at least once in their life. The largest showcase of Grand Prix racing cars in the world, now also incorporates the Wheatcroft Military Collection in the first two halls, so is now bigger than ever. There are over 130 exhibits on display that do well to highlight the history of motorsport from the turn of the 20th Century. Armourgeddon, Leicestershire 


Now, this is a very different type of driving experience altogether. With the Armourgeddon Tank Driving Experience you arrive, are handed your uniform and helmet and then you are thrown headfirst into the day. You will get briefed on your FV432 tank and then, when you are ready, you will get the chance to drive one of these immense vehicles around the beautiful Leicestershire countryside.

You will get to drive the tank for two laps of the track, which was once a World War II bombing range. Your first lap will be driven with the hatch open, and on your second go round, you will have to navigate using the periscope under battle conditions. When not driving you will get to sit in the turret seat and enjoy the ride! The Heritage Motor Centre is home to the world’s largest collection of British cars and is a must for any motor enthusiast! The London Motor Museum has one of the largest collections of both classic cars and custom automobiles in Europe. The museum is home to over 200 of the finest collectable cars including a 1937 Auburn Speedster, a 1967 ‘Eleanor’ GT500, and a 1937 Lincoln Zephyr.

Train Driving Experience, Kent

1. Fuel efficient driving – Don’t drive like a donut!

Fuel costs really can eat into your balance. Sadly, it’s pretty much impossible to run your car on anything else, so trips to the petrol station are a must. However, by driving in a certain manner you can make your car run far more efficiently making your pit stops at the petrol station less frequent.

It’s a good idea to keep your roaring accelerations to a minimum, whilst trying to drive as smooth as possible all the time. By keeping your car at a constant speed you will be able to reduce the amount of fuel that you use. It’s also worth switching off your engine when you’re stuck in traffic as this really helps to reduce fuel consumption.

Don’t worry, I am not going to suggest you jump on the Butterfield Diet Plan, or invest in a rowing machine. However, if you shed unnecessary weight from your car, it will cost far less to run. It’s worth making the effort to empty your boot when possible, especially for longer journeys. If you don’t need it, don’t take it with you. All that added weight will lead to reduced fuel economy and extra added costs.

It’s a good idea to ensure that your tyres are at their correct pressures at all times. This may seem like a small thing to worry about in the grand scheme of things, however, a good level of tyre pressure can help keep your fuel consumption down. Under-inflated tyres will use up more energy to roll smoothly, which will, in turn require more fuel.

There should be a sticker located in your car to tell you what pressures your tyres should be at. It is usually located within the petrol cap or somewhere on the driver’s door frame. If you cannot find this information on your car then you can always consult your car manual or search on the internet.

Now I don’t want to teach a granny how to suck eggs, but driving within the allocated speed limit and parking legally are both good ideas. If you’re strapped for cash then you don’t want to be lumped with a speed ticket or a substantial parking fine.


5. Think before you drive

Is this journey really necessary? That is what you should be thinking before getting in the car. Rather than making 10 trips to the shops throughout the week in your car, why not do one larger shop and save money on fuel?

Sometimes, and we are all guilty of this, but sometimes, we hop in the car when we could walk. If you can walk the distance and it’s not hammering down with rain, make the effort to walk. This will save you fuel costs and will help you keep fit and healthy.

If you drive to work, why not arrange a lift share with some of your colleagues? You drive to and from work one week, then the next week it’s someone else’s turn. This is a great way to save money as you will only be driving once every other week (or every three weeks if you can get a third driver).

If your car exhaust has holes in it, it can make a lot of noise and be rather annoying. However, what you may not be aware of, is the fact that it can also end up making your car far less fuel efficient. 8. Plan

If you are about to undertake a long journey in your trusty car, you should always take a little time out to plan ahead. If you need to fill up, it is always worth doing so at a petrol station in town, or in a supermarket as these tend to be cheaper than those situated in service stations.

It’s also worth pre planning your food. Anything bought at a motorway service station will cost you a bomb compared to if it is made at home or bought before you set off. Packed lunches are the way forward!

Insurance is another costly expense for motorists. You should shop around as much as possible to find the best deal available. If your car insurance is up for renewal, compare your cost to other quotes for the same policy. If you are able to find a cheaper deal, it’s worth contacting your current insurance provider. They may be willing to match the cheaper deal in order to keep you on board.

If you live at a property with multiple cars and multiple drivers, some insurers offer ‘multi-car’ policies, where a number of cars are insured on the same policy. This can provide a saving compared with insuring a car on its own.

Car tax must be paid. There’s no avoiding it. However, there are ways in which you can save time and money. Applying for car tax online means you don’t have to spend time queuing up and then you also aren’t paying for postage.

If you know your car is going to be completely off the road for at least six months, it’s worth knowing that you don’t have to pay road tax on it. So if you are going away for a long holiday (over six months) or you don’t need your car for a sustained period of time, you can save money by not renewing your tax until after the six months is up. You must, however, declare it off the road by applying for a SORN notice from the DVLA. Leaving your road tax to lapse and parking it on the drive is not good enough – do this and you may just get the DVLA on your case.

Myth #1: Hybrid cars lack power

Nowadays, this myth is completely false. It may have been true once, but these days the manufacturers have worked tirelessly to produce good quality cars that pack plenty of punch. Facebook is still number one when it comes to social media networks. Not only does it have the most users – it now has over 1 billion – but it also provides more referral traffic than any other social media platform, and therefore has the highest potential ROI.

Before you crack on with your Facebook experiment, it’s important to know just what you want to get out of it. Here at Friday-Ad Motors, we feel that you should be using the tool to create brand awareness within your local community, show off your expertise and credibility and increase your reach whilst generating new traffic to your website. But essentially, you want to increase sales.

First thing’s first, get your page looking sharp

You have plenty of space in which you can make your Facebook page look professional and represent your business well. Your cover image is 851 pixels by 315 pixels and is not allowed to include more than 20% text. It is, however, the perfect place for you to sell your business to anyone who lands on your page. It’s the first thing they’ll see so make sure you use it well. People should be able to see your cover picture alone and know exactly what sort of business you are and what you offer!

Your profile picture should also be used well. It is 180 pixels by 180 pixels (it shows at 160 pixels by 160 pixels) and we would advise you to use your company logo here. Nice and simple.

As well as your profile picture and cover picture, you will also want to ensure that the text in your ‘About’ section is nicely filled in and conveys your business well. You should also make sure that your web address is included here.

Get posting

It is important that you post regularly. When people land on a Facebook page that has clearly been left stagnant for a long time, they are not very likely to ‘like’ it. In order to engage your audience properly you will want to set up a regular stream of fun, interesting and relevant posts.

There are a number of things that you as a dealership can post about. From automotive news and car related posts, to photographs and other bits and pieces. Here are just a few ideas of things that you can post about on Facebook:

  • Links to your stock – You do want to show off what you have to offer after all. However, it is important that you bear in mind that you should only posting about yourself around 20% of the time. The rest of the time should be taken up posting about other things, such as the following few points.
  • Local news – Most of your customers will be local and from a certain catchment area. Why not keep them informed by reposting any local news that you feel they might need or want to know.
  • Automotive news – Anything car related is worth a post. Bear in mind that you want people to engage with your posts, so try and stick with things that are interesting, informative and fun. People are more likely to share a fun and entertaining video than something that’s just a bit dull.
  • Nice images – People share nice images all the time. And, with the internet being full of places where you can grab stylish and uber-cool car imagery, you have an endless pool to tap into.
  • Photos from the dealership – If there are any strange or interesting goings on at the dealership then why not post them to Facebook? People love to get a glimpse of what’s going on behind the scenes.

No matter what you are posting, it is worth bearing in mind that posts containing images tend to get twice the amount of engagement that posts without images. Therefore, make sure that you always include an image with your posts!

If you want to increase the number of people who like your page or you just want to get your brand in front of a wider audience, a competition could be the way forward. If your garage carries out servicing and repairs then why not offer these as a prize? If you have nothing that you can offer yourself then you could always strike up a relationship with a local restaurant and offer a dinner for two as your prize.

Once you have your prize there are a number of different competitions that you can run. For example, you could run some form of caption competition, get people to send in pictures and choose your favourite, run a quiz or any other ideas that you have. Coming up with a good competition idea can be fun and very rewarding when the entries start flying in.

Respond to people

You don’t want to be seen to be ignoring anyone. Therefore, if someone leaves a comment or asks a question, make sure that you respond. This especially applies to any negative comments that you receive. If someone is complaining about something then you can show the public how well you deal with this situation. Be as accommodating as possible and ensure the individual that you will do all you can in order to help them out.

For most car dealers the main benefits of Twitter can be growing an engaged and relevant following as well as getting their brand in front of a number of potential customers. It really is the perfect tool for building your brand’s reputation and getting it more well-known in your area.

Be sure to follow other local businesses and any ‘key influencers’ in your area. A key influencer is someone who is active on Twitter and is followed by a large number of your target audience. If you notice that there are certain users, or even other businesses, that have a large following from your local area, then try and build some form of rapport with them. They may retweet you or share your content, meaning you are increasing the number of potential customers who are seeing your brand.

What are you tweeting about?

Over 340 million tweets are sent out daily around the globe. So, how can you stand out from the rest? First up, it is important that you don’t bombard your followers with too much blatant advertising or sales materials. If you want to land a particular client for your business, start tweeting with them. Share their posts and include their username in the tweet. Follow key people in the company’s organization, if possible, to answer any questions they might ask their followers. The smallest interactions could lead to the biggest deals.
